Welcome to our summer newsletter containing a summary of recent news items.

Markleen’s biggest projects so far in 2008 have been the Uniboom single-point self-inflatable booms supplied to ship owners in Spain, Malta and Greece as part of the EMSA (European Maritime Safety Agency) oil spill response contracts for the Mediterranean. This is an ongoing concern, with new EMSA contracts for other maritime areas in the pipeline.

Markleen is also increasing its presence this year at international trade shows, having exhibited earlier this month at Seawork 2008 in Southampton, U.K. and with participations planned at oil shows in Mexico and Saudi Arabia towards the end of this year. Watch our website for individual news stories on these shows.

The increase in demand for Markleen products has presented a challenge as regards production and warehousing capacity, which we are in the process of overcoming by way of the recently installed sorbent manufacturing lines and the new storage areas currently being built. This will mean greater versatility in dealing with orders for both sorbents and oil spill response equipment, which we are sure our customers will appreciate.

It is therefore with optimism that we look to the immediate future, despite distant rumblings of crisis, and we hope all our customers and associates continue to regularly visit our website to keep up with developments.
