On January 24th, 2008 Markleen participated in the final EU-MOP project workshop held in Madrid, Spain. EU-MOP, standing for Elimination Units for Marine Oil Pollution, is a project funded as part of the Sixth Framework Programme of the Research Directorate-General of the Commissionof the European Communities.
The workshop was attended by leading IMO representatives, as well as by delegates from CEDRE (France), the University of Oxford (UK), SASEMAR (Spanish Coast Guard), Puertos del Estado (Spanish Ports Authority) and other public and private organisations. Subjects discussed included the new oil spill response equipment presented as well as the future of new developments and cooperation in the field of marine oil spill response.
