18 years after the sinking of the Castillo de Salas, on the 11th of January of 1986 in front of Gijón, the pieces of the wreckage had been removed on the Summer of 2003 by the Spanish Authorities (Ministry of Public Works and Economy) and transferred to the port of Gijón. During this operation MARKLEEN had been contracted to organize and deal with the oil spill response.
