Cleaning of the seabed contaminated by the Prestige oil spill, Galicia, summer 2003
The bad marine and atmospheric conditions of the Galician coast dragged numerous fuel layers down towards the bottom. Combined with the wave energy the fuel mixed with sand and substratum and then contaminated the seabed.
Taking advantage of the nice weather of the summer of 2003 the divers of MARKLEEN made cartography of the contaminated zones and removed from the water around 180 tons of fuel.
