REPSOL YPF had been contracted for the Prestige cargo removal more than 4000m of depth. They contracted MARKLEEN to deal with the oil spill response at sea during the test operations last summer and autumn of 2003.

MARKLEEN then participated to the contingency plan elaboration and studied all response possibilities for any kind of spills during the operations, from the cargo removal to the unloading to the Ferrol harbour, Galicia. The oil spill equipment specially made by MARKLLEN had been located in several supplies, like the Golfo de Siam, whereas the MARKLEEN personnel, on board of these same ones, was responsible of the global response.
